Friday Punk Night- Stroomhuis Benefit with Bands
On Thursday morning October 17, the monumental squat, Stroomhuis in Eindhoven, caught fire and since yesterday, the building is now largely being demolished. Stroomhuis, squatted since 2002, was one of the most important and most active squats in Eindhoven, located right next to the train station.
Our hearts are broken to see every piece of creativity and community that we poured into this place over the last 25 years, turned into ashes. Stroomhuis hosted many musicians, wood and metal artists, a food designer, two inhabitants and a cat, a tattoo artist, many silkscreen printing activities, a concert podium, a café, a ceramics studio and so on.
Many of our group have been severely impacted in their livelihood and housing. Literally decades worth of creative work is gone. Some of us lost everything we have made over the last 5, 10, and even 35 years. In addition, there are countless instruments and equipment used by musicians and artists from all over the city, which are stored in the Stroomhuis.
Stroomhuis has been the heart of our community for so many people in Eindhoven and far beyond.
Right now, we must figure out how to move forward, because we must keep going!
